Injured hiker found at Red Rock Canyon

A three-hour search for a missing hiker in Red Rock Canyon on Saturday resulted in the hiker’s rescue.

The man, 32, had fallen off a ledge and suffered moderate injuries, said Metro Lt. Ken Romane. The hiker used a whistle to direct rescuers to his location.

Metro Search and Rescue responded to the call at 7:09 p.m., Romane said.

At 9:45 p.m., the rescue team was able to hear the man’s whistle, but couldn’t locate him, Romane said.

He was rescued around 10 p.m. and hospitalized for moderate injuries.
