Jean woman hurt critically in Saturday night crash in Sandy Valley

A Jean woman was hurt critically in a single-vehicle accident Saturday night in Sandy Valley, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

In a statement Sunday, Metro said the crash occurred at 11:44 p.m. Saturday on Quartz Avenue east of Miami Street in Sandy Valley. Police said a 2004 Hyundai, driven by 38-year-old Faith Hugar, was traveling eastbound on Quartz Avenue when she lost control and the vehicle started to rotate.

The Hyundai left the roadway, rolled into a wood utility pole and stopped. Hugar was ejected from the vehicle.

She was flown to University Medical Center’s trauma unit, where she was admitted with critical injuries.

This collision remains under investigation.
