Las Vegas could tie record high temperatures Monday, Tuesday

Las Vegas is heating up early this year.

Residents will start next week with a heat wave and temperatures in the high-90s, according to the National Weather Service.

High pressure building in the area will bring a high of about 98 degrees on Monday, followed by 99 degrees on Tuesday, meteorologist Andrew Gorelow said. That would tie the record highs for both dates.

Normally, late April brings cooler weather, in the low to mid-80s, he said.

Las Vegas has never recorded 100 degrees in April, but that doesn’t mean that parts of the valley won’t hit the 100- degree mark Tuesday.

Things will start to cool down a bit on Wednesday, dropping to mid-90s, and remaining in there throughout the rest of the week, Gorelow said.

“It’s pretty well over the average temperature,” he said.
