Las Vegas man dies after rollover on Beltway onramp

A 25-year-old man died after his pickup rolled on the onramp to the westbound Las Vegas Beltway at Windmill Lane in Henderson early Saturday morning, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Juan Diaz of Las Vegas was pronounced dead at University Medical Center’s Trauma Center at 6:32 a.m., nearly four hours after the 2:43 a.m. accident, said trooper Jeremie Elliott, a public information officer.

Diaz was not wearing a seat belt, and it does not appear that alcohol was involved in the crash of the 2000 silver, two-door GMC, Elliott said.

“He was just unrestrained and he was ejected and he was traveling a little too fast,” Elliott said. “We can speculate as to why he left the lane, but we just don’t know for sure. He landed in a rocky area off to the side at the bottom of the ramp.”
