Las Vegas morning update for Thursday, December 21st — VIDEO

Here are your Thursday morning headlines:

1. Clark County finished installing almost 800 steel posts Wednesday between the street and sidewalks along the Strip to increase pedestrian safety. The posts can withstand a head-on collision from a 15,000-pound vehicle traveling 50 mph. Next year, the county plans on installing 7,500 more posts between Sahara Avenue and the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign.

2. A judge declared a mistrial in the 2014 Bunkerville standoff case Wednesday after finding that the federal government improperly withheld evidence. U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro said video surveillance, maps and FBI interview information were willfully withheld by the prosecution. Cliven, Ammon and Ryan Bundy and co-defendant Ryan Payne will face a new trial early next year.

3. The chief of the FBI’s Las Vegas office said he expects the agency to have a report on the Oct. 1 shooting before the first anniversary. Special Agent in Charge Aaron Rouse said the report will mostly focus on the motive of gunman Stephen Paddock, emphasizing that the FBI has interviewed upward of 400 people worldwide whom had some connection to him.
