Las Vegas police ID suspect in Sunday homicide

Metro on Thursday identified a suspect they say shot and killed a 31-year-old man in the central Las Vegas Valley over the weekend.

Carlos Aviles, 55, is wanted on a count of murder with a deadly weapon in connection with the death of Joel Sanchez, Las Vegas police said.

Police say Aviles shot Sanchez and another man while they were walking in an alley in the 4600 block of Twain Avenue about 10:20 p.m. Sunday. Sanchez died in the alley while the other man was taken to University Medical Center with wounds police said were not life-threatening.

Aviles, police said, fled in a 1994 blue or teal Ford F-150
