Las Vegas police investigating death of moped driver in southeast valley

Las Vegas police are investigating the death of a moped driver in the southeast valley Monday night.

Police aren’t sure whether the driver died in a crash or had a medical episode, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jeff Goodwin said.

The driver’s body was found next to the moped about 6:45 p.m. in the driveway of a home near the intersection of Astoria and Spokane drives, which is southeast of Mojave Road and Vegas Valley Drive.

Goodwin said there were no witnesses, so investigators were working to determine whether other vehicles were involved in the possible crash.

If the driver suffered a medical episode, the coroner’s office will confirm it. The office will also name the driver once family has been notified.
