Las Vegas police perform CPR on child who nearly drowned at northwest valley home

A 1-year-old boy nearly drowned in a northwest valley home’s pool Tuesday morning.

Las Vegas police initially responded to 5471 Florine St., near Alexander Road and Rancho Drive, about 8:45 a.m. for an unknown domestic disturbance. But when officers arrived, they were told a young child was in the pool.

Arriving officers helped perform CPR on the boy, who was breathing by the time he was taken to University Medical Center, Metro, spokesman Jesse Roybal said Tuesday afternoon. The boy was alive but his condition was unclear as of Tuesday afternoon.

Abuse and neglect detectives responded to the home, which Roybal said is standard in drowning and near-drowning cases.
