Las Vegas police remove explosives from neighborhood sidewalk

Las Vegas police recovered a bag containing explosives Monday night near an apartment complex at North 15th and Fremont streets.

Police officers and the bomb squad responded to a 9:05 p.m. call about a suspicious package at 110 N. 15th St. Residents flagged down the arriving officers and led them to where the explosives were found on the sidewalk.

According to police, the explosives were possibly dynamite and possibly being used for commercial use.

Police blocked off surrounding streets until the explosives were safely removed .

How the explosives came to be on the sidewalk is under investigation.
