Las Vegas police: Teen boy shot after firing into home

A teenage boy was hospitalized Tuesday evening after a shootout in the northwest valley, according to Las Vegas police.

Police responded just before 4:30 p.m. to a home in the 7700 block of Maverick Street, near West Ann Road and North Jones Boulevard, where the boy, in his late teens, had fired a shotgun through the front door from outside.

One person fired a handgun from inside the home several times and struck the boy at least once, according to Metro spokesman Lt. Mark Reddon.

The teen was taken into custody when police arrived and later taken to University Medical Center, Reddon said.

The person who called police from inside the home said that their son knew the boy who fired the shotgun.
