Las Vegas woman struck, killed by car that jumped onto sidewalk

A 53-year-old woman died after a car jumped the curb and struck her while she walked an east valley sidewalk, according to Las Vegas police.

She was identified as Cynthia Buss-Finley, of Las Vegas.

Buss-Finley was walking with David Winkelspecht Sr., 54, just before 10 p.m. Wednesday along Charleston Boulevard, near Lucerne Street, when the collision happened.

Alejandro Molina, 19, was westbound on Charleston in a 2002 Buick Century when he lost control and ran up on the sidewalk, Metro said Thursday in a news release. Buss-Finley and Winkelspecht were struck.

The pair, Molina and a 15-year-old passenger, were taken to University Medical Center. Buss-Finley was pronounced dead after arrival.

Winkelspecht and the passenger of the vehicle suffered minor injuries. Molina’s injuries are “moderate,” the release said.

This is the 79th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
