Man accused of killing family member in Las Vegas weekend homicide

A man who Las Vegas police believe was killed by a family member Sunday died of internal bleeding related to blunt force injuries, the Clark County coroner’s office said Monday.

The death of Las Vegan Steve Medrano, 35, was ruled a homicide.

Juan Medrano, 32, was arrested early Monday morning in connection with the man’s death. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he faces a murder charge and one count of possession of a stolen vehicle.

Police said the slaying happened after the two men argued at their house in the 300 block of Martha Street, near Stewart Avenue and Marion Drive.

Juan Medrano called family members and told them to go to the house, police said. When the family arrived, they found Steve Medrano, who was hurt.

Juan Medrano had driven away in the injured man’s vehicle.

When police were called about 5:30 p.m., they found family members trying to provide first aid to the injured man. Medical crews took him to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where he died.

Police did not describe the relationship between Steve and Juan Medrano.

Juan Medrano was later arrested during a traffic stop in the 3700 block of Boulder Highway, about 4 miles south of the incident.
