A man has been arrested in connection with a December homicide in an east valley apartment complex.
Joshua Simon, 24, was arrested Wednesday on charges of first-degree murder and ownership or possession of a firearm by a prohibited person in connection with the death of Gary Patrick Kaname, 45, according to Metro’s booking and dispatch logs and the Clark County Detention Center.
Metro was dispatched to the Sunrise Vista Apartments, 3801 E. Charleston Blvd., near Pecos Road about 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 to investigate a shooting.
Upon arrival, police discovered Kaname with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to University Medical Center where he had about an hour of surgery before being pronounced dead, according to police.
The homicide investigation indicated a possible verbal argument with another man prior to the shooting, according to a release from Metro.
Shortly after the shooting, police described the suspect in the homicide as a black male in his 30s. According to the Clark County Detention Center, Simon is Asian.
