Man arrested in northwest valley double homicide, police say

A man was arrested Friday in connection with the slaying of two people found at a northwest valley home Thursday, according to Las Vegas police.

Mark Carpenter, 47, was taken into custody Friday morning at Santa Fe Station, 4949 N. Rancho Drive, Metro spokeswoman officer Laura Meltzer said.

Gary Cravish, 62, of Las Vegas, and his wife were found dead about 5:40 p.m. Thursday in the bedroom of a home in the 4800 block of North Tioga Way, near the intersection of Lone Mountain Road and Buffalo Drive, police said.

Cravish, who was identified by the Clark County coroner’s office, died of a gunshot wound to the chest. The identity of his wife has not been released. County property records show that Cravish co-owned the home with Bonny Sue Cravish.

Carpenter, who was renting an apartment on the couple’s residential lot, was arrested on two counts of open murder and is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center.
