Man dies from injuries after NLV weekend shooting

A man who was in critical condition following a weekend shooting in North Las Vegas has died, police said Tuesday.

David Cabrera, 21, of Las Vegas, died Monday, police said.

Cabrera arrived at University Medical Center about 9:30 p.m. Sunday seeking medical help after a shooting in the 3500 block of Stanley Avenue, near Pecos Road and Owens Street, police said.

He had been listed in critical condition since then.

A preliminary investigation determined Cabrera was in the passenger seat of a vehicle when the shooting occurred. The 23-year-old driver, who was not identified, drove Cabrera to the hospital, police said.

Police haven’t released any more details or announced any arrests.

Cabrera was identified by the Clark County coroner’s office and his official cause of death and manner were still pending.
