Man faces murder charge in North Las Vegas shooting

A man was arrested Thursday in connection with Tuesday’s fatal shooting of 18-year-old Roland Pleasant, according to North Las Vegas police.

The investigation indicates Pleasant was driving in his vehicle Tuesday evening with two passengers, 16 and 17 years old, when they stopped to pick up acquaintance Eric Bell, North Las Vegas police said Thursday in a release.

Police believe Bell, 18, got in the car, pulled out a gun, robbed one of the teens, attempted to rob the second teen and then shot the driver. Both passengers fled on foot to a nearby store where they called police.

Officers responded at 6:44 p.m. to the area of Tropical Parkway and Shark Water Bay Street where they found Pleasant on the ground next to a vehicle. Pleasant was taken to University Medical Center where he died, police said.

Bell turned himself in to authorities and was booked at the Las Vegas City Jail on one count each of murder with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
