Man killed in stabbing on Strip

A man died after being stabbed on the Strip early Tuesday morning, Las Vegas police said.

Officers responded to reports of a man being stabbed near the Walgreens at 3717 S. Las Vegas Blvd., near Harmon Avenue, about 12:40 a.m.

They found a man on the pedestrian bridge that crosses Harmon suffering from a stab wound, police said.

The man was taken to University Medical Center where he later died.

Police identified 22-year-0ld Calvin Boyden III, of Las Vegas, as the suspect in the stabbing. Officers located Boyden quickly and arrested him after a short foot chase, police said.

Boyden is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center on one charge each of murder and robbery. He is scheduled to be in court Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after his family has been notified.

This was the 117th homicide in the Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
