Man killed in Walgreens robbery IDd by coroner

The Las Vegas man who was shot and killed in the robbery of a Walgreens Friday morning was positively identified Sunday by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Antonino Isnit, 58, died of multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner’s office said.

Police believe 25-year-old Jin Ackerman arrived at the Walgreens, on Cheyenne Avenue at Durango Drive, between 4 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. wearing gray pants, a gray shirt, a black pea coat and a surgical mask. Ackerman held two clerks at gunpoint in the backroom where the safe was located, police said.

Isnit was shot and killed about 5:07 a.m., according to Metro homicide Lt. Ray Steiber. Isnit’s death was ruled a homicide by the coroner.

The second clerk was not injured and Ackerman fled the scene, police said Friday.

Within hours of the shooting, police identified Ackerman as the suspect. He was arrested by Metro SWAT officers just after 1 p.m. at a home in the Arbors neighborhood near Summerlin Parkway and the 215 Beltway. Police said they found a gun with an attached silencer believed to have been used in the killing.

Ackerman is being held at the Clark County Detention Center and faces charges of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, burglary and robbery.

The Walgreens where the shooting took place was closed Friday and re-opened Saturday, when customers and fellow employees honored Isnit with a flower and candle memorial outside of the store. The store was unusually crowded, according to manager Brian Barnard and customers.
