Man shot in supermarket parking lot

A man was hospitalized after being shot in a central valley supermarket parking lot after what appeared to be a robbery Tuesday evening, Las Vegas police said.

The call came in shortly before 5 p.m. The man was shot in the arm at a parking lot near UNLV, at Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road.

The man was with a woman at the store and he was putting groceries in a car when he was approached by the shooter, Metro Lt. Tom Melton said. A struggle ensued and the man was shot once before the shooter fled, he said. The woman was in the store at the time of the shooting.

The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that are not life-threatening.

No one has been arrested, police said.
