Man who died in May 28 crash near Jean identified

The man killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near Jean last month has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Joel Steven Franco, 73, whose residence is unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near mile marker 12 on May 28. Two pickups, one of which caught fire, had collided about 10 p.m.

One person was taken by air to University Medical Center in critical condition, and two others were taken by ground transportation with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Jason Buratczuk said on the day of the crash.

Details on how the crash occurred and the current conditions of the three people sent to the hospital were not immediately available Wednesday.
