Metro: Man found dead from gunshot wound in gym parking lot Tuesday morning

Two vehicles sat parked side by side in a west valley gym parking lot at different times overnight Tuesday. Only one of them was driven away.

Minutes after the clock struck 1 a.m., a man inside one of the vehicles was dead from a gunshot wound, and the suspected assailants in the other car had fled, Las Vegas police said.

The incident began about 10 p.m. Monday when the shooting victim parked his vehicle at a 24 Hour Fitness, 601 S. Rainbow Blvd., near Alta Drive, police said.

It wasn’t immediately clear what the man did the next three hours, but investigators said they don’t believe he entered the gym.

The second vehicle, described only as a two-door sedan with at least two people in it, pulled next to the man’s vehicle about 1 a.m.

About 10 minutes later, the victim’s vehicle rolled onto a parking median and the driver’s window was shattered. He died at the scene.

Investigators haven’t identified the people in the second car and a motive for the shooting hasn’t been determined, police said.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the man slain.
