Metro: Man injured, 1 arrested in fireworks mishap

A man was hospitalized and a person was arrested after a Friday mishap involving fireworks, according to Las Vegas police.

The injured man was taken to University Medical Center and is expected to survive, Metro officer Michael Rodriguez said.

First responders were called about 1:30 p.m. to a desert area behind a shopping center in the 3700 block of Nellis Boulevard, near Gowan Road.

The two people involved are homeless and the incident likely stemmed from an argument, Rodriguez said.

More details, including the extent of the injuries caused, what type of “incendiary device” was used and how the injury occurred were not immediately available.

It also wasn‘t known what charges the person arrested was going to face.

As of 4 p.m.m the ARMOR task force, which includes local and federal agencies, was still investigating the scene.
