Metro officer injured in Thursday shooting identified

The Las Vegas police officer shot and injured at Emerald Suites on Las Vegas Boulevard Thursday, has been identified by Metro.

Officer Gregory Sedminik, 52, and another officer were responding to an unrelated domestic disturbance call about 11:15 a.m. when he was unexpectedly confronted and shot by, Teag Fox.

Sedminik has been employed with Metro since July of 1997 and is currently assigned to the Community Policing Division, South Central Area Command, according to a release from Metro.

He is expected to make a full recovery and has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.

Fox, the shooter, was apprehended after hours after the even in a Southern Highlands neighborhood. He faces one count each of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, battery with use of a deadly weapon resulting in bodily harm on a police officer and discharging a firearm into occupied structure, a release said.
