Mom accidentally backs car into toddler, police say

A mother backed into her 3-year-old child Wednesday morning, Las Vegas police said, but the injuries are not life-threatening.

Police classified the incident as an accident.

The call came in about 9:20 a.m. from the 6300 block of West Tropicana Avenue, near the intersection at Torrey Pines Drive.

First responders said the child was alert and aware, suffering from a minor head injury, Metro spokesman Larry Hadfield said.

The child was taken to University Medical Center as a precaution.

Details on whether or not the Clark County Department of Family Services would respond were not immediately available. County spokesman Dan Kulin said the agency generally cannot confirm or deny ongoing investigations.
