Motorcyclist crashes and dies in Henderson

A 36-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after he lost control of his motorcycle and was struck by a passing car in Henderson.

The motorcyclist was heading east on East Galleria Drive about 4:30 p.m. when he suddenly lost control of his 2012 Yamaha near Pabco Road, Henderson spokeswoman Michelle French said. As a result, he split from his motorcycle, slid across the road and was hit by a passing car.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet but died after being taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital — Rose de Lima campus.

The car that struck the motorcyclist was driven by a 74-year-old Henderson man who submitted to blood testing but did not appear impaired, French said.

It appeared the motorcyclist may have been speeding and driving recklessly before the crash. It was unclear whether he was impaired, French said.

The intersection was shut down for nearly four hours as police investigated the man’s death, which was Henderson’s third traffic-related fatality this year.

The Clark County coroner’s office will name the motorcyclist once his family has been notified.
