A motorcyclist died in a crash Friday night near the Strip.

The crash happened around 6:50 p.m. on the northbound Interstate 15 at Tropicana Avenue, the Nevada Highway Patrol said in a statement.

The Highway Patrol said troopers said the crash involved 2003 Blue and White Suzuki GSX-R600 ZK3 motorcycle while heading north on the I-15. The motorcycle reportedly failed to slow down and struck the back of a black 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe, according to the patrol’s press release.

The driver of the motorcycle, 27-year-old Roger Fernando Perez-Diaz, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The I-15 northbound lanes were closed at Tropicana but reopened late Friday.

The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Southern Command said it has investigated five fatal crashes resulting in five fatalities.
