Motorcyclist killed in Monday night crash
A motorcyclist died Monday night after crashing into a car, according to Las Vegas police.
The crash happened about 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of Russell and Fort Apache roads, Metro said Tuesday morning in a news release.
Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate a 2009 Harley Davidson, headed east on Russell, hit a westbound 2004 Dodge Stratus that was turning left onto Fort Apache, the release said. The motorcylist was thrown from the bike.
He was taken to University Medical Center, where he died.
The Clark County coroner’s office identified the motorcyslit as 41-year-old Erik Thomas Mathijssen, of Las Vegas, staff said Tuesday.
Angelina Iamurri, 43, the driver of the Dodge, suffered minor injuries and stayed to talk to police.
This is the 55th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction.
