Neighbors evacuated as police try to coax man from home

SWAT officers are at the scene as Las Vegas police are trying to coax a man from his home in the northeast valley.

Las Vegas police responded just after 5 a.m. Tuesday to a home in the 6100 block of Evensail Drive, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Mt. Hood Street, where a caller had said they needed help. A man inside the residence refused to come out when police arrived.

One woman and multiple children exited the home, and several nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution.

Police believe the call might involve domestic violence.

“It is unknown if the subject is armed,” said Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer, “but police are treating it as such.”

The man was still locked inside the home just before 8:30 a.m.
