NHP trooper, 2 others hospitalized after US 95 crash

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper and two people were hospitalized after a crash on U.S. Highway 95 Sunday afternoon.

An NHP trooper was in his car on the right shoulder of southbound U.S. 95, south of Eastern Avenue, when it was struck from behind by a gray 4-door sedan, said NHP Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel.

The gray car flipped onto its side, Stuenkel said.

The NHP trooper, the driver of the gray car and one passenger were taken to University Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening. It was not immediately clear how many occupants were in the gray car, Stuenkel said.

Only the left lane of U.S. 95 was open near Eastern while troopers investigate the crash.

The vehicle involved in the original wreck that the NHP trooper was investigating was not hit in the second crash.
