NV Energy warns customers about phone scam

NV Energy warned on Thursday that people pretending to work for the utility company are trying to call and scam money out of its customers.

The company “does not call customers and solicit payments for any reason,” NV Energy said on its Twitter account, adding that the scammers are using a method of making their number appear like the utility company is calling.

Customers at risk of having their power interrupted receive notices by mail, NV Energy said, adding that company employees visiting customers are required to wear badges at all times.

If you get a call asking for money, contact NV Energy at 702-402-5555.
