One man dead, another arrested in central valley homicide

One man was found dead and another was arrested early Wednesday after a homicide Tuesday night in the central valley, Las Vegas police said.

Officers were called at 10:06 p.m. Tuesday to the 900 block of South Decatur Boulevard, near Alta Drive, where they had received reports of two men fighting physically, Metro officer Laura Meltzer said.

On arrival, police found William Joel Bryan, 61, unconscious in a tent in the desert area, Meltzer said.

Bryan was taken to University Medical Center where he died. The Clark County coroner's office identified him Wednesday.

Metro said its investigation shows Bryan was in the tent with a woman when another man entered and started punching Bryan.

A witness to the fight told police the name of the other man involved, Meltzer said. Police said the witness recognized the attacker but they couldn't confirm that the witness was the woman in the tent.

Tracy Morrison, 47, was arrested about 3 a.m. Wednesday in the 5200 block of Harmony Street, near the intersection of Decatur and U.S. Highway 95, about 1 mile from the fight scene.

Morrison was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he faces one charge of first-degree murder and is being held without bail, detention center logs show.
