A man was critically injured Monday night when he was hit by a car near Texas Station, North Las Vegas police said.

The man was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by the car, North Las Vegas Officer Aaron Patty said. It happened near the intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard and Rancho Drive, and officers responded at 6:20 p.m.

The man was taken to University Medical Center and was still in critical condition as of 9:15 p.m., Patty said. The driver of the car stayed at the scene.

Traffic on Lake Mead was closed between Rancho and Texas Star Lane as of 9:15 p.m. and would be for a few hours, Patty said.
