Pedestrian struck in October dies of injuries

A pedestrian hit by a truck in the central Las Vegas Valley in October died of her injuries in January, according to Las Vegas police.

Yongming Chen, 61, of Las Vegas was walking north across Spring Mountain Road inside of a marked crosswalk about 9:30 a.m. Oct. 22, Metro said in a release.

A Toyota pickup traveling south on Lindell Road turned onto east Spring Mountain on a green signal and struck Chen, police said.

Chen was forced to the ground and the vehicle stopped. The driver remained at the scene, the release says.

Chen was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Metro was notified about her death on Jan. 18, according to a release sent Tuesday. She died at Complex Care, 2500 north Tenaya Way.

This is the 22nd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2016.
