Police: 3 shot, one killed while leaving party in early morning shooting

Four people were shot and one of them died early Sunday morning in the north valley, Las Vegas police say.

Officers responded to the 3400 block of Rancho Drive, near Cheyenne Avenue, just after 5 a.m. and found four people with gunshot wounds in a parking lot.

Three of the wounded were taken to University Medical Center, and the fourth was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators believe the four people were at a party west of Rancho Drive when they became involved in an argument. It escalated into a fight, and then the four people left the scene.

As they drove away, a white four-door car drove up next to them and the passenger fired a handgun. The passenger hit the four people in the car before fleeing.

Police are unsure if the shooter was the one of the same people in the argument at the party and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the fight or know the suspects to come forward.

This is the 72nd homicide investigated by Las Vegas police in 2014 and the identity of the deceased will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
