Police: Drugs, speed are factors in Saturday night crash that left 1 dead

It appears that drugs, alcohol and speed played a role in the Saturday night crash in North Las Vegas that killed a woman and left a man in critical condition, police released Sunday.

North Las Vegas police responded about 7:30 p.m. to a crash at Alexander Road and Commerce Street involving a 4-door sedan and a 4-door SUV. Preliminary investigation shows that the SUV was traveling southbound on Commerce when it struck the sedan that was traveling eastbound on Alexander.

Rose Cherilyn Kelly, the 62-year-old Las Vegas woman who was driving the sedan, was unconscious when police arrived. Kelly was transported to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. She was identified Sunday by the Clark County coroner’s office.

The 28-year-old driver of the SUV was taken to UMC in critical, but stable condition, police said.
