Police investigating shooting in northwest Las Vegas Valley

One person was shot and Metro is looking for occupants of a car that fled the scene after a shooting at a northwest valley gas station Friday evening.

The wounded person, who was not identified, was shot in the hip and is expected to survive, Metro Lt. Michael Mauntel said.

The shooting occurred about 5:20 p.m. during an “exchange of words” between people in two parked cars at the gas station near the Durango and Westcliff drives intersection, police said.

The car with the shooter and a passenger, both males, hit a wall at the gas station before speeding away from the scene, Mauntel said.

Police are looking for a “late model” white car that should have damage to its front, Mauntel said.

The car carrying the wounded person had four other people in it, Mauntel said. The wounded person was taken to University Medial Center.
