RJ, chamber launch ‘Newsfeed’ breakfast discussions

The Las Vegas Review-Journal and the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce have joined forces for a new breakfast series that aims to ignite conversations about important community issues.

The breakfast series, Newsfeed, will kick off at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 12 at the Four Seasons and will include legislative leaders from both houses and parties, according to Review-Journal Editor Mike Hengel.

“This is a great opportunity for businesses large and small to get a primer on what will take up the majority of efforts in the 2015 legislative session,” he said.

“These breakfasts are a great way for members and readers to hear directly from experts, decision-makers and community leaders, with the added bonus of having the discussion moderated by an experienced journalist who knows how to shape and bring objectivity to the conversation,” added Cara Clarke, senior director of communications for the chamber.

Glenn Cook, senior editorial writer at the Review-Journal, will moderate the Jan. 12 event.

The partnership is natural, Clarke said, as both the chamber and the Review-Journal are involved in keeping community members up to date on various issues. The chamber provides resources to Nevada businesses so they’re able to create jobs and thrive in a global economy.

According to Clarke, each breakfast will focus on a trending topic. “The Metro Chamber and the Review-Journal will collaborate on topics and speakers and jointly market the events to our members and the entire community,” she said.

“This partnership is an opportunity for the Review-Journal and the chamber to better serve our readers and their members by providing insight and value about the events and issues of the day from a business perspective,” Hengel added. “Anyone is welcome.”
