Rowe Elementary evacuated after small fire; no one hurt
Students and staff evacuated Rowe Elementary School in Las Vegas for about 30 minutes Tuesday after a small pump room fire, according to the Clark County School District.
No injuries were reported, CCSD spokeswoman Melinda Malone said.
The Clark County Fire Department was called to the school, 4338 South Bruce Street, near Eastern and Harmon avenues just before 9 a.m., according to the fire department.
Fire crews were gone shortly after, CCFD fire chief Jon Klassen said.
There was no fire, only sparks and smoke, Malone said. Because it was before school, the students were already outside of the classrooms and only needed to be gathered away from school buildings.
They were allowed back on campus at 9:20 a.m., 20 minutes after the normal first bell, Malone said.
Malone could not give a cause for the sparks or an estimated cost of damage Tuesday afternoon.
