Small plane headed from California to Henderson disappears

A small airplane flying from near Bakersfield, Calif., to Henderson’s airport disappeared Saturday afternoon, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.

The single-engine Piper PA32 went off radar about 10 miles south of Bakersfield at about 4 p.m., spokesman Ian Gregor said.

It took off from the Reid-Hillview Airport and was heading to Henderson’s Executive Airport, Gregor said.

“The FAA issued an alert notice, which is the first step in initiating the search-and-rescue process,” Gregor said in an email.

More details were not immediately available.
