Suspect arrested in hit-and-run that killed bicyclist in central Las Vegas

A bicyclist is dead after a Sunday night hit-and-run accident in the central valley, Las Vegas police said.

The Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports at 8:47 p.m. that a bicyclist had been hit by a vehicle on South Torrey Pines Drive near Bannock Way.

A Ford F250, traveling north on Torrey Pines, struck the bicyclist and crashed through a wall into the backyard at 6349 Bannock Way, a neighborhood near Torrey Pines Drive and Charleston Boulevard, according to police.

The bicyclist, an adult male whose identity was not released, was taken to the University Medical Center in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup fled the scene on foot but was later found by police and arrested on charges of DUI and hit-and-run.

Metro’s fatal detail is investigating the crash.
