Teen critical after being hit by car in south valley

A 14-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was hit by a car while crossing the street near Saint Rose Dominican Hospital’s San Martin campus Saturday night.

The girl was outside of a marked crosswalk on Warm Springs Road, near the intersection of South Cimarron Road, when a westbound 2006 Kia Sorento struck her, forcing her to the ground about 8:30 p.m., a Sunday morning Metro release said.

She was taken to University Medical Center’s pediatric trauma unit, where she remains in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, Mark Gibson, 54, of Las Vegas, and two other passengers were not injured in the crash.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
