Teen moped rider seriously hurt in northeast valley crash

Two teens riding a moped were hospitalized Saturday afternoon after being hit by an SUV in the northeast part of the valley, according to Las Vegas police.

The crash happened about 1:30 p.m. on the 4400 Block of Carey Avenue, near Lamb Boulevard, Metro police said.

The teens were taken to the University Medical Center. One teen is in serious condition in the hospital’s trauma center, while the other has no serious life-threatening injuries, according to officer Jeff Goodwin.

Traffic in the area has been cleared, police said.
