Teenager critically injured after being hit by vehicle

A 16-year-old Las Vegas girl was critically injured after she was hit by a truck in the northwest valley Saturday afternoon, Metro police said.

Police said the collision occurred at about 2:23 p.m. on Elkhorn Road near its intersection with Campbell Road.

Evidence and witness statements indicate that a 2013 Ford F150, driven by James Hiltunen, 42, of Las Vegas, was traveling east on Elkhorn when the girl, who was not in a crosswalk, crossed the path of the truck, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, according to Metro Lt. Jeff Goodwin.

Hiltunen remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said.

The collision remains under investigation.
