A 2-year-old boy who drowned at a northwest valley apartment complex Monday afternoon was left unattended in a hot tub, according to Las Vegas police.
Israel Hall, of Las Vegas, was taken to Mountain View Hospital with life-threatening injuries after Las Vegas police responded about 4:20 p.m. Monday to the Tivoli apartments, 4650 N. Rainbow Blvd., near West Lone Mountain Road.
Metro abuse and neglect detectives’ preliminary investigation indicates Israel was at the community swimming pool with his family and was last seen playing in the hot tub with older children, police wrote in a release Tuesday.
Although adults were present in the general area of the complex’s pool, “no adults appeared to be in close proximity of the hot tub,” the release said.
Israel was found unresponsive in the hot tub by a family member and was immediately pulled out of the water.
This is the sixth child drowning investigated by Metro this year. Police wrote in the release that constant and uninterrupted adult supervision is the best protection against child drownings.
