Vegas police say truck death is hit-and-run

Las Vegas police are seeking a driver who ran over and killed a man who was sleeping under a semi-truck trailer over the weekend.

Police initially said they weren’t sure the truck driver knew the man had been run over. But Monday they said they are classifying the investigation as a hit-and-run.

The investigation shows that a 50-year-old man died after after the semi-truck driver pulled away and ran him over Sunday in a parking lot near the intersection of Sixth Street at Mesquite Avenue. Police responded about 10:15 a.m. but said the man could have been run over as early at 8 a.m.

Metro Lt. John Liberty said Sunday the man who died was homeless. The Clark County coroner’s office could not provide his name Monday.
