Woman arrested in northwest Las Vegas homicide identified

Las Vegas police named the woman arrested in connection with a homicide in the northwest valley Wednesday night.

Catherine Brewington, 54, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder. She is being held without bail and is due in court for her first hearing Friday morning.

Police responded to the 4700 block of Sweeping Glen Street, near Lone Mountain Road and Cliff Shadows Parkway, after receiving multiple calls about gunshots about 7:30 p.m.

Police found a man dead on the driveway from an apparent gunshot wound and took Brewington into custody on the scene. The man will be named by the Clark County coroner's office after his family has been notified.

Brewington was dating the man who was killed and lived at the home. The two had a fight just before the shooting, according to police.

This is the 17th homicide investigated by Metro in 2016.
