A woman was hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a car Monday night, Las Vegas police said.
A woman, described in her late 60s, was crossing Nellis Boulevard near Charleston Boulevard when she was hit by a vehicle about 7:20 p.m., Metro Lt. Mark Reddon said. She was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening head and chest injuries, police initially said.
Nellis from Charleston Boulevard south to Wyoming Avenue remains closed in response to the accident, Reddon said.
Reddon later said the woman likely has a broken or fractured spine as a result of the crash, but there was a good chance she would survive.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene, Reddon said. Metro’s traffic fatality detectives were investigating the incident.
