Woman hit by truck Wednesday morning dies

The woman struck by a truck along with her husband in the central Las Vegas Valley early Wednesday morning died of her injuries Thursday, according to a Metro news release.

Flora Largusa, 57, and her husband, Jerry Largusa, 56, were crossing Del Rey Avenue at Rainbow Boulevard with their dog about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday when a Dodge Ram truck turning onto Del Rey from Rainbow crashed into them, police said. The couple were inside a marked crosswalk.

They was taken to University Medical Center, the release said.

Jerry Largusa sustained serious nonlife-threatening injuries, but his wife died of her injuries the next day, according to police.

The truck's driver, Nicholas Kennedy, 37, of Las Vegas remained at the scene and was not impaired, police said.

This is the 19th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction for 2016.
