Las Vegas police are investigating a crash in the east valley that left a woman in a wheelchair dead early Friday morning.
Officers were called to Desert Inn Road and Nellis Boulevard at 4:23 a.m., where the woman had been hit just south of the intersection.
She died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said. Her identity will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after her family has been notified.
Metro Det. Karl Tomaso said on the scene that the woman was crossing Nellis outside of a crosswalk when a pickup truck hit her.
Las Vegas police accident investigators later said in a news release that the woman was crossing from west to east 246 feet south of Desert Inn when she was hit by the 2006 Chevy Silverado heading south in the left lane.
This collision marks the 84th traffic related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2015 and remains under investigation.
