Woman killed in southwest valley shooting identified

The woman who died after a southwest valley shooting Saturday morning has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Deanna Serano, 33, was shot in the 9700 block of Flamingo Road, near the Las Vegas Beltway, police said. Officers responded to the restaurant parking lot where the incident took place, where they found Serano and another injured woman.

Serano died at the scene. The other woman was hospitalized at University Medical Center.

The preliminary investigation showed that a man got into an argument at the restaurant and it escalated to a physical fight. The man left, but fired shots from into the crowd from his vehicle as he drove away, police said.

Police identified Carim Cruz, 27, as the suspect of the shooting. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall, about 165 pounds and was seen leaving the scene of the shooting in a dark blue four-door Mercedes Benz.

Serano was a Las Vegas resident. According to the coroner’s office, her official cause of death was gunshot wound to the chest.
